I love the fall and in particular I love apple season! At this time of year I like to enjoy some crafting, and my Apple Craft for kids is the perfect fall crafting activity.
Apple Craft for Kids
We used to live less than 5 minutes from an apple farm, and it was so much fun to go and pick our own apples! Where we live now, there are still plenty of farms, they’re just not 5 minutes away!
When the kids were small, we had SO MUCH FUN doing kids crafts at home. I love babysitting for friends with small kids so we can make crafts together too.
Crafts are a fun way for kids to work on shapes, colors, cutting and counting – and the kids may not even realize they’re learning! This apple craft activity is created from wooden craft sticks and is ideal for preschoolers and young kids.
If you like this fall crafting activity then try my Apple Tree Kids Craft or Scarecrow Pudding Cups, which are perfect for any fall or harvest party.

What are craft sticks called?
Craft sticks are wooden sticks, they come in packs of plain or colored sticks. These are also called popsicle sticks, or lolly sticks. I use plain sticks for this crafting activity.
What is the best glue to use on craft sticks?
If the kids want to do the entire activity themselves I recommend using Liquid Glue with a fine tip applicator. However, if you plan to help them out a Glue Gun with Glue is ideal.
PLEASE TAKE CARE when using glue guns around children and avoid burning, as both the glue and the gun become really hot!
How to make craft apples
- Start by downloading and printing off an Apple Pattern Sheet – APPLE PATTERNS.
- Trace and then cut out shapes from cardstock with scissors.
- Attach four craft sticks in a row to the front of the base of the apple and the top of the apple.
- Flip over and attach the top and base of the apple to the back of the apple.
- Attach a stem and leaf to the front of the apple, flip over and attach a stem and leaf to the back of the apple.
- Draw four teardrop shaped seeds in the center of the apple, and you’re done.
Variations:
When they were younger my kids loved to craft. Crafting is a great, fun way for kids to expressive themselves creatively. I’ve made red apple craft, but here are some other ideas to help your kids get creative:
- Create a bushel of apples and fashion a banner by stringing the apples together.
- Use the apples to decorate your bedroom notice board, or to decorate a classroom bulletin board.
- I’ve made red apples, but you can make red, green or yellow apples.
- Adjust the template and you can make some green or yellow pears.
- Find some other fruit and vegetable shapes, cut them out and add them to your banner too.
- Add some glitter to the apples for extra sparkle.
