Homemade Meatballs

Since Nick is Italian, he really likes to eat an Italian meal at least once a week.

For years, I’ve made the “secret” family recipe for Sunday Spaghetti Sauce to serve with pasta, but recently he decided he wanted meatballs with it.

Honestly, I tried to take the easy way out and buy pre-made Meatballs, but after trying several different varieties, the guys just couldn’t find any they were happy with.

I have a recipe for Homemade Meatballs, but I just hadn’t ever made them.

When they weren’t happy with the premade meatballs, I made the ultimate mistake and tried my Homemade Meatballs Recipe.

Homemade Meatballs

Why is that a mistake?

Because they LOVED them, and now they aren’t happy with just plain old spaghetti sauce and pasta, they want Homemade Meatballs EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.

They also want them for Meatball Sandwiches on Sub Rolls, Meatball Sliders, and just to eat as a snack.

Fortunately, the recipe is pretty easy to make.

I bake mine in the oven instead of frying them, and try to make a double or triple batch every time, so I can freeze the extras, and I don’t have to make them once a week 🙂

Homemade Meatballs
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 lb Italian Sausage or Maple flavored breakfast sausage
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, shredded
  • 2 tsp. Garlic Powder or 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp. Italian Seasoning
  • Salt & Pepper

Instructions

Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees

Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil

Spray with non-stick cooking spray

Gather all of your ingredients

Toss them in a mixing bowl

Put on some cooking gloves so you can mash it all together

Use a medium or large cookie scoop to get evenly sized meatballs

Roll them in your hands

Place them on your cookie sheet

Place the cookie sheet in the oven for about 20 minutes, or until cooked through

Prepare another cookie tray and cover with aluminum foil

Place cooling racks on there and transfer the cooked meatballs to the cooling rack so any excess grease can drip down

Add to your spaghetti sauce, refrigerate, or freeze the meatballs to use at a later time.

Enjoy
