Easy Meatloaf
The KEY ingredient in this Easy Meatloaf recipe is Hunt’s Meatloaf Sauce.
I typically serve it with mashed potatoes and green beans.
I took this picture on my camera phone inside a Walmart so you could see exactly what it looks like.
It’s only $0.78 a can (you need just one per loaf), so it’s affordable too.
To begin, combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl, reserving some of the sauce for later.
You can stir with a wooden spoon, or your hands.
I find I get a more thorough mix with my hands, but I do wear food grade gloves, because it gets messy (and I have weird allergies, to some ingredients)!
If you have a deep loaf pan, it should fit inside that for baking.
I have three teenagers who are varsity athletes in high school.
Two pounds of meatloaf doesn’t stretch far enough to feed them.
Even with sides and bread.
So, I am currently TRIPLING the recipe.
Instead of using 3 loaf pans, I just make a giant meatloaf on a baking sheet.
Before I give you the recipe (it’s on the can too), I’ll reveal my last Meatloaf Secret.
I use 1lb Ground Beef and 1lb Jimmy Dean Maple Flavored Breakfast Sausage instead of 2 lbs ground beef.
When I make this for friends, they can never figure out what my “secret” to amazing meatloaf is, and it’s very simple.
Hunt’s Seasoning and Jimmy Dean Maple Sausage.
You can serve with the sides of your choice. I usually serve with Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Green Beans, and Sprite Biscuits.

Never could make a decent meatloaf until I stumbled on the original packaged sauce about 6 years ago. Then last year the red label can was almost impossible to find so I bought like 6 to keep handy. My son stumbled on the new packaging last week but we didn’t notice the recipe was no longer on the label until about 40 minutes ago. Thanks for including the recipe on your site!

I love this stuff!! I only use ground beef in my meatloaf and turns out great. I have been using Meatloaf Starter for years, but like others, have noticed Hunt’s has taken the recipe off the label of the can. I personally know some people that do not have the internet, so unless someone passes on the recipe, do they just guess on how to make it?

Please note. Hunts has changed the label. It now says meatloaf starter and a real dark can. The contents are still the same but they deleted the recipe that was on the original can. Had to pull up on Internet and add to recipe box.

I have been using this exclusively for many many years. Can’t count the times I was asked for the recipe. Now it can’t be found within a 100 miles. I don’t know why but I’m not using anything else.

Great meatloaf recipe. I substituted ground pork for the JD Maple sausage. Added foil wrapped sweet potatoes on the baking sheet on each side of meatloaf. Meatloaf and potatoes ready at same time. Added steamed green beans to complete the meal. Highly recommend this recipe. Super easy meal and family loved it.

Hunts sauce is definitely the key, I’ve never been very fond of meatloaf until I tried my aunts which when I asked she told me she had used the hunts sauce and now I cook meatloaf the same way, it’s amazing at the difference from using other seasons and ketchup

this sounds great I’ve never tried using breakfast sausage and using Hunt’s for meatloaf makes it a sure winner – I’d love to try it!
