What I love most about my Betty Crocker Peach Cobbler Cake Mix recipe is that it can be prepared in just 10 minutes. I layer up canned peaches with juice and a touch of cinnamon spice, then top with a box of Betty Crocker’s yellow cake mix, although any brand of yellow cake mix will work in this recipe.

You might also call this a peach dump cake as all the ingredients get dumped into the dish, one on top of the other. But whilst it may not look pretty going into the oven, what you end up with is a beautiful golden topped peach dessert once it’s baked.

This a cost effective dessert as I make my peach cobbler with canned peaches and cake mix. Two cans of peaches and one box of yellow cake mix and you have a dessert that will serve 15! Making this the best cake mix peach cobbler recipe when feeding a crowd of family and friends.

How to make Peach Cobbler with Cake Mix

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Strain the juice from both cans of peaches into a bowl.
  • Whisk the juice with the brown sugar, cornstarch mixture, and cinnamon. Set aside.

  • In a separate bowl, stir together the cake mix and butter until the mixture begins to stick together.

  • Spread the sliced peaches evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Cut the peaches into bite-sized pieces, if desired.

  • Pour the peach juice mixture over the top of the peaches in the pan.

  • Sprinkle the cake mix mixture over the top of the peaches and juice in an even layer.

  • PEACHES: For ease I’ve used 2 x 15 ounce cans of sliced peaches in juice. Canned peaches are great in desserts as not only are they convenient, they have a lovely sweet flavor a soft texture.
  • SUGAR: I like to use brown sugar as it has better depth of flavor, but you can use granulated sugar if you prefer.
  • CORNSTARCH: I mix cornstarch with water and add it to the fruit base as it will help thicken the fruit and stop the whole dessert becoming soggy.
  • SPICE: I like to add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon, as cinnamon works a treat with peaches. You can leave the spice out if you prefer.
  • CAKE MIX: For ease, I’ve used a box of Betty Crocker’s yellow cake mix, you can swap this with your favorite box of yellow cake mix.
  • BUTTER: I used butter in the cake mix topping, you can use salted or unsalted.

Flavor variations

  • You can use fresh peaches if they are in season, otherwise canned or frozen peaches work just fine.
  • I’ve made a peach cobbler, but you can swap the peaches for any other fresh, canned or frozen fruits.
  • Add some extra crunch to the cake mix cobbler topping by stirring through some chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts.

Recipe hints & tips

  • Don’t over-mix the cake mix, you don’t want the cobbler topping to become dense.
  • Watch the bake times, you don’t want to over or under cook the cobbler topping.

Serving suggestion

I like to serve peach cobbler warm, straight from the oven, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. However, you can serve it with some whipped cream if you prefer.

First, thank you for this delicious-ly easy recipe! I was very hungry!! Secondly, I made this with a gluten free Betty Crocker cake mix. Lastly,I would like to know if I can freeze this, so I can have pieces every now and then?(I live alone.)
