Burrito bowls are delicious and easily adaptable to fit your tastes and preferences by changing the ingredients.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

Meat: This bowl is delicious with seared or grilled chicken breasts, but you can substitute it with ground beef, sausage, pork, chicken, or turkey.

Rice: Try using cilantro lime rice for added flavor or brown rice to make these bowls even healthier and more filling.

Beans: Black beans, red kidney beans, or white Great Northern beans are also great options. You can also leave out the beans altogether.

Vegetables: Sliced red bell peppers, zucchini, red or white onions, lime wedges, avocado chunks, and cilantro work well in burrito bowls.

Salsa: You can use store-bought salsa or make some yourself using onions, lime juice, tomatoes, garlic, and cilantro.

Seasoning: If you don’t have taco seasoning, you can use chili powder, chipotle powder,  cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper to make your own seasoning.

How to Serve these burrito bowls

Chicken burrito bowls are perfect for lunch or on their own, but you can also serve them with a side dish for a more filling meal.

Some options to eat with your dinner are oven-roasted garlic parmesan asparagus, sheet pan roasted broccoli, or oven-roasted sweet potatoes and bacon.

How to Store chicken bowls

Store any leftover chicken burrito bowls with the ingredients separated, if possible. This will keep the lettuce from wilting.

You can keep it in the fridge in an airtight container for up to five days.

Freeze the rice, beans, and chicken in separate containers in the freezer for up to three months to easily make burrito bowls whenever you want a quick meal.
