Easy Brisket Soft Tacos
We have partnered with Just Meats to create a step by step guide to Easy Brisket Soft Tacos. This recipe is simple to customize to your family’s taste and flavor preferences. We’re highlighting these tacos using the traditional taco toppings, but feel free to get creative!
We LOVE the ease and simplicity of using Just Meats products in our menu rotation. I just log in to the website, select the meats that fit my meal plan, and they’re delivered quickly in an insulated box.
For a variety of reasons, shopping in person at the supermarket is difficult for me – regular readers know I have rheumatoid arthritis and am in treatment for breast cancer. Being out in public with a compromised immune system is dangerous for me, so being able to have high quality ingredients delivered to my door is essential for me.

You can stock up and know that you’ll have easy to prepare meals on hand for days when unexpected situations arrive, and avoid the dreaded drive-thru or meal delivery service costs. Just Meats ingredients last 10 days in the fridge and 4-6 months in the freezer.
INGREDIENTS FOR EASY BRISKET SOFT TACOS:
- Just Meats Smoked Texas Brisket – order yours on the Just Meats website!
- Flour Tortillas – use the brand of your choice. Here in the Austin, TX area we’re fortunate to be able to buy fresh made tortillas at H-E-B! You could also use corn tortillas, if preferred.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese – of course you can buy cheese pre-shredded, but taking the few extra minutes to shred your own is really worth it. It tastes so much better when freshly shredded! You could also use cotija cheese, colby jack cheese, pepper jack cheese or any cheese your prefer.
- Guacamole – check out our recipe for Easy Homemade Guacamole or purchase it premade from the supermarket.
- Salsa – check out our recipe for Easy Homemade Salsa or purchase it premade from the supermarket.
- Jalapenos – we like to buy fresh from our local H-E-B and slice ourselves, but there are jalapenos available at the supermarket that are already in jars. We also can our own jalapenos and make Cowboy Candy, both are so great on tacos. You can go as hot as you like with peppers – habanero, ghost pepper, whatever you like!
- Sour Cream – use the brand of your choice.
- Lime – We buy one, wash it, roll it around on the counter, then slice and squeeze a bit over the top of each prepared taco.
This is the Texas Beef Brisket after being heated on the stove for just 2 minutes, then plated to be assembled.
We always have salsa and guacamole on hand in our fridge, the kids love to snack on it daily. I have an attachment on my Kitchen Aid to quickly shred cheese so the only prep I really need to do is slice the jalapenos and limes.
I heat our tortillas in a skillet while the brisket is heating, then begin the assembly process. Place a few pieces of brisket in the tortilla and top with freshly shredded cheese.
Next, spoon some guacamole on top of the cheese.
Follow the guacamole with some salsa.
Squeeze or spoon some sour cream over the salsa.
Place some jalapenos gently on top.
Fold the tortillas up on the sides and your Easy Brisket Soft Tacos are ready to be enjoyed!
Other Topping Ideas for Brisket Soft Tacos:

Tips for Serving Brisket Soft Tacos:
- You can melt butter in a skillet or use olive/avocado oil when heating tortillas to crisp them up a bit around the edges.
- You can make these ahead and serve them for parties or gatherings. We will be enjoying these at our 4th of July Picnic while we wait for our town’s fireworks celebration. Everything is bigger in Texas, including the fireworks show with live bands, vendors, etc. While the show is free to enter, the food is expensive. We save our budget by bringing our own. Brisket tacos at the event run $12 EACH. Using Just Meats Smoked Beef Brisket at $5.74 per serving to make our own is much more budget friendly.
- Looking to save a couple calories where you can? You could swap out the sour cream for Greek yogurt for a lighter, tangier flavor.
- Make sure to chop the meat into bite-sized pieces for easier eating.
- To keep the tortillas warm and pliable after heating, wrap them in a clean kitchen towel or store inside a tortilla warmer, if you have one.
- We like to offer the toppings in small bowls, buffet style, so everyone can get as much or as little of each topping as they prefer.
- In Texas, Breakfast Tacos are a BIG THING. This Just Meats Smoked Beef Brisket is delicious in a breakfast taco! Simply add scrambled eggs, shredded hashbrowns, sautéed onions, and bell peppers to your tortilla. then top with cheese, salsa, and a dollop of sour cream for a satisfying morning meal.
